Ambitious
plans were made in 1993 for the development of a new hospital on Phuket.
The partnership, between Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), Anuphas
& Co., and a group of local investors, sought to keep
an eye on
future trends by factoring in the ability to expand.
Bangkok
Phuket Hospital (BPK) opened on the 22nd
of May 1995 for locals and tourists, whether Thai or from any of the 127
nationalities who have gone to make Phuket on of the premier tourist locations
in the world.
The plans were
certainly ambitious, yet well conceived, with just one testament to this
being the fourfold expansion in beds from 50 in 1995 to almost 200 today.
Investment to date has exceeded 800 million Baht and the goal of being
the tertiary level hospital serving the southern region of Thailand is
within sight.
