Thalang is very central to Phuket island and is perhaps most well known for the famous Two Heroines Monument, a memorial statue of the heroines Thao Thep Kasattri (Kunying Jan) and Thao Sri Sunthon (Mook), who rallied islanders in 1785 to repel Burmese invaders. The large traffic circle surrounding the monument is a primary junction for routing traffic east-west and north-south. Of great interest is the Thalang National Museum located near the Two Heroines Monument. The museum contains a fascinating exhibit depicting life in old Phuket, along with artifacts discovered along the coast, and historical materials used during war with the Burmese.
